A A Dhand is set to be the UK's next big crime writer as he releases his debut novel Streets of Darkness with Transworld.
Described as a cross between Luther and The Wire, Streets of Darkness kicks off a new series following suspended Detective Inspector Harry Virdee as he investigates a seemingly race motivated murder in Bradford. Dhand was raised in Bradford, working in a convenience store before travelling extensively, then moving to London and qualifying as a pharmacist. Now based in his hometown again, Dhand has used it as inspiration, saying 'Harry Virdee is a character who mirrors the city of Bradford; troubled by his past but determined to overcome it. I wanted a strong British-Asian detective who understands his heritage but puts his city and country before anything else'. Streets of Darkness will be released June 16 and promises to propel Dhand to the top of the bestseller charts.
